Classroom Sessions

V-Rig/Tree Anchors

Learn how to build a V-rig top rope anchor using a static line and make a personal tether to safely work at the edge of a cliff.

Intro to Trad Anchors

Learn how to build basic anchors using passive and active climbing protection. This is not a class on how to place trad gear. You should have a basic knowledge of how to place both passive (nuts) and active (cams) protection before coming to this workshop.

Intro to Climbing Knots

Learn how to tie the most common knots and hitches used when top-roping outside.

Sport Anchors

Learn how to build and break down anchors for top-rope on fixed bolts.

Rope Management

Learn a few different ways to coil your rope and how to neatly and efficiently manage your cordelettes, slings, and prusik cord.

Top Managed Belay

Learn how to belay from the top of a climb using several different devices and methods.

Advanced Climbing Knots

Learn some advanced knots to impress your friends at the crag.

Trad Climbing Fundamentals

This class is a great introduction to trad climbing. You will learn a general overview of trad climbing, including nomenclature, history, fall factor, gear, and strategy.

Put your skills to the test with these hands-on outdoor climbing sessions

How to Rappel

Learn how to set up a rappel and rappel safely with a belay or a third-hand backup.

Cost: $50 per person

Placing Gear and Building Anchors

In the first half of this class, you will learn how to place different types of trad gear such as nuts, spring loaded camming devices (SLCD), tri cams, etc. In the afternoon, you will use skills you learned in the morning to build robust pre-equalized and self-equalizing anchors with trad gear.

Cost: $75 per person

Trad Lead Climbing

Put your gear placing skills to the test with some “false leads.” Practice gear placement, direction of pull, gear spacing, and risk management. In this class you will learn by doing.

Cost: $85 per person

Top Rope Anchors

Learn how to build anchors in the wild. In the first half of the day you will learn how to build top rope anchors in an outdoor setting. In the second half of the day students will set up some top rope anchors and climb on them.

Cost: $75 per person

Crack Climbing 101

Learn the fundamental techniques needed for beginner to moderate crack routes. Techniques covered will include hand jams, finger jams, fist jams, and foot jams.

Cost: $65 per person

Single Pitch Trad Course Curriculum

With this series of classes, you will learn everything from what is trad climbing and why people do it, to leading routes and building anchors with trad gear. During the last class of the series, you will lead a single-pitch trad route with your own gear and belay your partner until you are both at the top of the climb.
